If you have been following the iOS 9 news then you would be familiar with the new picture-in-picture feature, which allows users to watch a video or Facetime while simultaneously doing other stuff on their device. Developer Adam Bell found the feature a bit too ‘boring’ so he hacked it to play Doom on it. In the video embedded below you can see him running the game in a small window while using other parts of iOS that includes applications and the springboard. This is something that cannot be done by default.
The picture-in-picture feature of iPad along with split-screen view feature is limited to the latest iPad Air 2 only and will be one of the major selling points for the larger 12.9-inch iPad, expected to get released later this year.
iOS 9 will be released for public in the fall while the public beta of the operating system will begin in July.
